Smooth Sumac
Some are hard. This one in particular is giving me a headache. I'm thinking a Helianthus, but it could be an aster. It's in an open field on top of a mountain at around 3800 feet. The top is an abandoned Christmas tree farm. Perhaps if the flowers were in full bloom it would be easier...
Any guesses?

I was up in Ashe county this weekend, as I've mentioned. I was surprised at all of the xmas tree farms!
ReplyDeleteThere seem to be a lot of tree farms up that way and on the Highland Plateau. They need a certain elevation to do well - I think above 3,000 feet...
ReplyDeleteOn my way to one of our projects I pass a field of little tiny spruces in rows. Little miniature Christmas trees in waiting.
